The Emory University women’s tennis team picked up its second-straight victory on the road, defeating Brenau University 7-2 in Gainesville, GA on Thursday.

For the second-consecutive match, the Eagles swept through all three doubles contests.  Emory’s top-doubles pairing of senior Lorne McManigle and junior Zahra Dawson, ranked first in the Atlantic South Region, defeated Lyn See Choo and Hannah Thompson, 8-3.  In the second-doubles contest, freshman Gabrielle Clark and Jordan Wylie earned an 8-4 victory over Kate Mazackova and Liubov Orlova.  Rounding out doubles play, Emory’s freshman duo of Brenna Kelly and Malavika Padmanabhan defeated Eline Nagles and Nelli Martirosyan 8-4 in the third match.

In singles play, Wylie earned a victory for Emory in the second-singles match, defeating Kate Mazackova, ranked 48th nationally in the NAIA, 6-3, 6-1.  McManigle would add on a point with a come-from-behind victory in the third singles match, winning 0-6, 6-1, 6-3.  Adding on points were freshman Taylor Brandt in the fifth-singles match (6-2, 6-2) and Padmanabhan in the sixth-singles contest (6-3, 6-1).  Emory’s Clark suffered a 7-6 (5), 6-3 loss to 22nd-ranked Lyn See Choo in the first-singles match, and Dawson dropped the fourth-singles match 7-5, 6-0.

With the victory, Emory improved to 2-2 on the season, while Brenau dropped to 1-2 on the campaign with the loss.
