The Emory University women's tennis team, ranked third in the Division III, suffered a 6-3 loss to Auburn University Montgomery in the team's season-opening match on Sunday at the Woodruff P.E. Center.

The Eagles dropped to 0-1 on the season with the loss, while Auburn Montgomery, the reigning NAIA Champion, improved to 3-0 on the campaign.

Emory picked up its picked up its only match victory of the day in the fifth singles match, where sophomore Brenna Kelly led Hagar Caro 6-2, 4-1 before the Warhawk retired.  The Eagles earned their other two points by default after Auburn Montgomery did not play anyone in the third doubles or sixth singles matches.

Emory will be back in action on Saturday, February 18^th, hosting Columbus State University at 2:00 PM at the Woodruff P.E. Center.
