Wylie, Padmanabhan & Pinsky Named to the All-UAA Women’s Tennis Team

Emory University junior Jordan Wylie, sophomore Malavika Padmanabhan and freshman Lauren Pinsky were each named to the all-University Athletic Association (UAA) First Team for their performances at last weekend's conference championships in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

Wylie was named to the first team for her performance at the second singles position, where she won a 6-4, 6-1 decision over 11th-ranked Washington University (Mo.)'s Kate Klein (ranked 18th in the Central Region) and a 7-6 (1), 6-4 match against the sixth-ranked University of Chicago's Jennifer Kung (ranked second in the Central Region).  This was the third-straight year that Wylie has earned all-UAA honors, as the Atlantic South Region's 11th-ranked player improved to 13-7 in singles action this season.

Padmanabhan, ranked 23rd in singles play in the region, received all-UAA first team recognition for her play at fourth singles.  The sophomore won straight-set matches against both her opponents, besting Wash U.'s Paige Madara 6-0, 6-2, and Chicago's Linden Li 6-3, 7-6 (3).  This was Padmanabhan's second-straight berth to the all-UAA First Team for her singles play, as she improved to 14-3 on the season.

Pinsky finished the weekend with a 3-0 record in singles play to earn a spot on the all-UAA team as the sixth singles player.  The freshman opened UAA play with a 6-1, 6-0 win at first singles against New York University's Ramya Pokala.  She followed with sixth singles wins against Wash U.'s Corinne Rauck (6-0, 6-3) and Chicago's Kelsey McGillis (1-6, 6-3, 7-5).  Pinsky, who earned her first-career all-UAA honor, improved to 15-8 in singles play during her inaugural campaign with the Eagles.

Emory finished second at the UAA Championships, and currently stands at 15-5 on the season.  The Eagles will now await the announcement of the 2012 NCAA Championship Draw, to be announced on May 7th on NCAA.com.
