#5 Emory Women’s Tennis to Host Opening Rounds of the NCAA D-III Tennis Championships

The fifth-ranked Emory University women's tennis team received an at-large bid to the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships, and will play host for the first-three rounds of the tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

After receiving a first-round bye, the Eagles (15-5) will play the winner of Friday's first-round contest between Agnes Scott College (15-3) and Methodist University (21-3) on Saturday.  On the other side of the bracket, Ohio Northern University (22-4) and Transylvania University (11-1) will play in the first round on Friday, with the winner meeting seventh-ranked Washington and Lee University (20-5) on Saturday in the second round.

The winners of the second-round matches will play each other in the third round of the tournament on Sunday, with the victor  advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championships in Cary, NC.

Times for the matches at Emory will be announced later in the week on EmoryAthletics.com.

This is the 28th-consecutive year the Eagles have earned an NCAA Tournament berth, advancing at least as far as the quarterfinals 22 times.  Emory has recorded three-straight top-three finishes, including a third-place finish at the 2011 NCAA Division III Championships.
