Gabrielle Clark

Emory University junior Gabrielle Clark led the Eagles to a second-place finish in the team tournament, and finished in the semifinals of both the individual singles and doubles draws during the 2013 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championships in Kalamazoo, Michigan last week.  She finished the week with a total record of 4-1 in singles play and 5-1 in doubles action.  During the team championships, Clark teamed with Sullivan to go undefeated in three matches at first doubles (all against NCAA Doubles Tournament selections), and won her only singles match that was decided, a 7-6 (5), 6-3 win during the Eagles’ semifinal win against #1 Amherst.  In the singles tournament, Clark, the third-overall seed, won her first three matches in straight sets, before falling in the semifinals to the top-seeded player in the draw.  She and Sullivan also made up the second-seeded doubles team, earning a pair of straight-set wins in the early rounds before falling in the semifinals to the third-seeded team.  Clark finished the season with a 30-7 record in singles play (tied for the second-most wins in a single season in school history) and 28-7 in doubles action.  In addition, she ended her junior season with 84 career singles wins, the third-most in school history, and 86 career doubles victories, the fifth-most in school history.  Clark earned all-America honors in both doubles and singles play for the third-straight season in 2013.
