Emory University freshman Madison Gordon finished the week with a 2-1 record in singles play, including a win over a Division I opponent.  On Sunday, Gordon scored the only point for the Eagles in a 6-1 loss to the Division I University of Alabama – Birmingham, defeating her counterpart 6-3, 6-4 in the sixth singles match.  Just a day earlier, she helped Emory to a 6-3 win over the 18^th-ranked University of the South with a 6-2, 6-2 sixth singles win.  On Wednesday at Columbus State University, the sixth-ranked team in Division II, Gordon suffered an 8-3 loss in the second doubles contest, and dropped a hard fought three-set contest at fifth singles, 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.  She is now 7-4 in singles play during the 2012-13 season, and 4-8 in doubles action.  Gordon and the fourth-ranked Eagles have opened the 2013 spring season with a 3-2 record.
