Emma Taylor

Emory University freshman Emma Taylor teamed with Gabrielle Clark to win the doubles draw at the ITA Small College Nationals last weekend.  After a straight set (6-3, 6-4) win over Meg Crowley and Claire Marshall of DePauw in the quarterfinals, the top-seeded duo from Emory battled to a 6-7(4), 6-4, 10-8 victory over fourth-seeded Rebecca Curran and Kara Shoemaker of Williams College in the semifinals.  In the Division III Championship Match, Clark and Taylor earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Meghan Buell and Claire Cahill of Washington & Lee University.  Taylor and Clark’s fall season came to an end in the semifinals of the ‘Super Bowl,’ as the duo fell to Barbora Krtickova and Aleksandra Filipovski of Division II Atlantic Armstrong State College, 6-2, 6-2.  Taylor became part of the third duo in the program’s history to win the NCAA Division III doubles draw at the ITA Small College Nationals, and the first freshman to accomplish the feat.
