Draws Released for Individual Women’s Tennis Championships

With the NCAA Division III Individual Women's Tennis Championships set to start on Thursday morning in Kalamazoo, Michigan, both the singles and doubles draws were released by the NCAA on Tuesday.

Emory will have two participants in the 32-person singles draw – junior and reigning NCAA Singles Champion Gabrielle Clark, and freshman Beatrice Rosen.  Clark, the third-seeded player in the draw, will face DePauw's Maggie MacPhail in the round of 32.  Should she advance, she will take on the winner of the match between Nataly Mendoza of Skidmore and Brittni Fausett of Mary Hardin-Baylor in the round of 16.

Rosen's first round opponent will be Whittier's Maegan Zamilpa.  Should Rosen advance, she will play the winner of the first-round match between fourth-seeded Megan Tang of Chicago and Lauren Quisenberry of MIT.

The first two rounds of singles play will be contested on Thursday, May 23rd, starting with the round of 32 at 8:00 AM.  The round of 16 matches will follow, starting at noon, the earliest.  The women's singles quarterfinals and semifinals will be held at 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM, respectively, on Friday, May 24th, with the NCAA Singles Championship match scheduled for a 9:00 AM start on Saturday, May 25th.

In the doubles draw, Clark will team with freshman Annette Sullivan as the second-seeded duo.  The pair will face Brandeis' Faith Broderick and Carley Cooke in the round of 16.  Last season, Clark teamed with former Eagle Zahra Dawson to finish as the runners-up in the draw, marking the third-consecutive year an Emory pairing as finished second.

The round of 16 matches of the doubles draw will be played at 3:00 PM on Thursday, with the quarterfinals at 3:00 PM on Friday.  Advancing teams will play in the semifinals on Saturday at 11:00 PM, with the finals to follow at 1:00 PM.

Participating players can earn ITA all-America honors with at least one victory in either the singles or doubles draw.
