Clark & Sullivan Fall in NCAA Semifinals

Emory University junior Gabrielle Clark and freshman Annette Sullivan saw their 2013 season come to an end on Saturday afternoon, as the Eagles' top pairing fell to Jordan Brewer and Gabby Devlin of Amherst College in the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Doubles Championships in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Clark and Sullivan battled tough in the first set, but ultimately dropped the first frame in a tiebreaker, 7-6.  The duo was not able to recover in the second set, as Brewer and Devlin, the 2011 NCAA Division III Doubles Champions, rolled to a 6-1 win to earn a spot in the finals.

Clark and Sullivan finished the 2012-13 season with an overall record of 19-4, the best mark by an Emory doubles team during the year.  Clark was 28-7 overall in doubles play during the year (including matches with other partners), matching the 11th-most doubles wins in a single season in the program's history.  Her 86 career doubles victories are the fifth-most in school history, and just 19 shy of the school record.

The loss officially ends the 2012-13 campaign for the Emory Women's Tennis team, highlights of which included a second-place finish at the NCAA Team Championships, a University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship, and an 18-5 overall record.
