#3 Emory Suffers First Loss of 2014 to D-II #6 Lynn

Emory's 12-game winning streak to start the 2014 season came to a close on Thursday night, as the Eagles, ranked third in Division III, suffered a 6-3 loss to Lynn University, the sixth-ranked NCAA Division II squad, in Boca Raton, Florida.

After getting swept in doubles play, the Eagles bounced back with victories in three of the six singles matches.  Freshman Michelle Satterfield was leading 5-1 in the first set of the third singles match, before her opponent retired to give the Eagles their first point of the match.  At fifth singles, sophomore Madison Gordon claimed a 6-2, 3-6, 10-4 win, while freshman Katarina Su earned a 6-2, 7-5 win at sixth singles.

The loss dropped Emory's season record to 12-1, while Lynn improved to 18-1 with the victory.

Emory will continue its Florida road trip on Friday afternoon, taking on Barry University, the third-ranked NCAA Division II team, at 3:00 PM.
