Second-ranked Emory University swept all six singles matches and won two of the three doubles contests on Saturday afternoon to defeat sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins University 8-1 at the Woodruff Physical Education Center.

Saturday's victory marked the 22^nd-straight home win for the Eagles, who improved to 13-3 overall in 2015, while Johns Hopkins dropped to 10-4 with the loss,

Emory jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the match with quick victories at both first and third doubles.  The third match was the first to finish, with Emory freshman Bridget Harding and sophomore Katarina Su defeating Jody Law and Megumi Chen 8-1.  At first doubles, freshman Anna Fuhr and sophomore Michelle Satterfield, ranked sixth in the Atlantic South Region, upset the region's fourth-ranked duo of Ashnaa Rao and Shannon Herndon 8-2.

Johns Hopkins picked up a point at second doubles, as Elaine Baik and Sydney Lehman edged Emory sophomore Melissa Goodman and junior Beatrice Rosen in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (4).

The Eagles would go on to sweep the six singles matches to complete the victory.  Junior Madison Gordon picked up the first win, defeating Herndon 6-0, 6-1 at sixth singles.  Emory's other five wins were also in straight sets, with Rosen winning 6-1, 6-0 over Rao at first singles, Satterfield claiming a 6-1, 6-3 win over Lehman at second singles, Goodman defeating Amanda Austi 6-0, 7-5 at third singles, Su earning a 6-4, 7-5 win over Law at fourth singles, and freshman Bridget Harding picking up a 7-5, 7-5 victory over Megumi Chen at fifth singles.

The match began an hour and a half late to allow for the courts to dry after rain overnight.  Play began outside, but was moved indoors during the middle of singles play after the rain started again.

The Eagles will make the trip to Spartanburg, South Carolina tomorrow to take on the Wofford College Terriers at 12:00 pm.  Wofford, an NCAA Division I program, is 9-10 this season, including a 5-5 mark at home.  The Eagles are 5-2 all-time against Wofford, including a 2-2 mark all-time in Spartanburg, and a 4-3 win when the teams last met during the 2011 campaign.  Results and a recap of the match will be posted to EmoryAthletics.com following the completion of competition on Sunday.
