Harding Named UAA Rookie of the Year; Seven Eagles Earn All-Conference Honors

Following the team's win at the 2015 University Athletic Association Women's Tennis Championships, seven Emory University Eagles were selected to the all-conference teams, as announced by the UAA on Thursday.  In addition, freshman Bridget Harding was named the UAA Rookie of the Year, after going undefeated in singles and doubles matches at the tournament last week.

Earning All-UAA First Team honors for Emory were sophomores Michelle Satterfield (no. 2 singles), Melissa Goodman (no. 3 singles) and Katarina Su (no. 4 singles), Harding (no. 5 singles) and junior Madison Gordon (no. 6 singles).  Su and Harding also claimed first team doubles honors for their play as Emory's second doubles pairing.

Named to the All-UAA Second Team were junior Beatrice Rosen for her performance at first singles, and Emory's third doubles team of Goodman and senior Rebecca Siegler.

Harding went 3-0 in singles matches (1-0 as Emory's fourth singles player and 2-0 as its fifth) and 3-0 with Su as the Eagles' second doubles team.  She becomes the third-straight Eagle to be named the UAA Rookie of the Year (along with Rosen in 2013 and Satterfield in 2014) and the sixth Emory player overall.

Gordon claimed her third-straight All-UAA First Team singles honor, while Satterfield, Goodman and Su each earned their second-straight.  Su also earned her second-straight All-UAA First Team honor for doubles.

It was the third-straight All-UAA selection for Rosen as well, and the first doubles honor each for Siegler and Goodman.

Emory claimed its 26th UAA Championship in 28 years of conference competition, defeating New York University and the 15th-ranked University of Chicago, each by 9-0 scores, before downing seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon University 7-2 in the championship match at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

By virtue of winning the UAA Championships, nationally second-ranked Emory, 16-3 in 2015, will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships.  The complete championship draw, along with the host sites for the first three rounds, will be announced on NCAA.com at noon on May 4th.
