No. 2 Women’s Tennis to Open NCAA Play against Webster

The second-ranked Emory University Women's Tennis Team will open play at the 2015 NCAA Division III Championships on Friday, May 8th in Sewanee, Tennessee, taking on Webster University at 2:00 pm CT in the second round after receiving a first-round bye.

Emory, the reigning NCAA Division III Champion, will begin its title defense against the Gorlocks, who defeated Hanover College 5-0 in their first-round match on Thursday.  The Eagles will enter the tournament with a 16-3 overall record, including a 13-1 mark against Division III opposition.

The Eagles' lineup features five regionally-ranked singles players in junior Beatrice Rosen (second), sophomore Michelle Satterfield (seventh), sophomore Melissa Goodman (14th), sophomore Katarina Su (17th) and freshman Bridget Harding (24th).  Emory also has a pair of regionally-ranked doubles pairings, with freshman Anna Fuhr and Satterfield checking in at fourth in the latest poll, and Goodman and Rosen registering at eighth.

Emory is 69-32 all-time in NCAA Tournament matches, including a 52-10 record under current head coach Amy Bryant.  This will be the first ever meeting between Emory and Webster.

The Gorlocks, who earned an automatic berth to the tournament after winning the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament, are 15-4 overall this season.

Fans can follow the match with live results, accessible from the official tournament website at http://sewaneetigers.com/sports/wten/2014-15/NCAARegional.
