Harding Named UAA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week

After helping the second-ranked Emory University reach the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Championships for the eighth-consecutive season last weekend, freshman Bridget Harding was named the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week, the second time this season she has claimed the honor.

Harding was undefeated in a pair of matches during the weekend, playing fourth singles and second doubles with partner Katarina Su in each of the two team wins.  After receiving a first-round bye, Harding did not drop a game on Friday in a 5-0 Eagles' second-round win over Webster University, winning 8-0 in doubles and 6-0, 6-0 in her singles match.  She also claimed two key wins in Emory's 5-2 win over the 12th-ranked Sewanee in the third round, winning 8-2 in doubles action and 6-1, 6-1 in the singles match.

Harding has won nine-straight singles matches and is a team-best 24-4 this season, while going 18-7 in doubles play, including a 9-0 record with Su.

The Eagles, now 18-3 on the season, will advance to the NCAA quarterfinals for the eighth-straight season and the 25th time overall.  Emory will take on Middlebury College in the next round at 11:00 am in Mason, Ohio.
