Emory University sophomore Michelle Satterfield reached the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Singles Championship with a win over Summer Garrison in the quarterfinals, but saw her season come to an end with a straight-set loss to the top-seeded player in the draw in her second match of the day on Friday.
After a pair of wins during the first day of individual competition on Thursday, Satterfield, unseeded in the draw, claimed a straight-set victory over Garrison of Lewis and Clark College, 6-4, 6-1. However, pitted against top-seeded Eudice Chong in the semifinals later in the day, Satterfield suffered a 6-4, 6-2 defeat.
Satterfield, who made her debut in the NCAA singles draw this year, finished her 2014-15 campaign with an overall singles record of 16-8.
The loss ends the 2014-15 season for the Eagles, who finished the campaign second in Division III and claimed the University Athletic Association Championship.
