Cosme Wins ITA Singles Title; Harding/Su Capture Doubles Crown

The Emory University women's tennis team wrapped up play at the USTA/ITA Fall South Regional Championship on Sunday afternoon sweeping both the singles and doubles main draw titles.

Freshman Taylor Cosme battled sophomore Bridget Harding in the singles final, ultimately winning in comeback fashion in three sets 4-6, 6-0, 6-3. With the win, Cosme becomes the latest Eagle to earn ITA All-America honors and will now compete at the National Small College Tournament from October 15th-18th in Sumter, South Carolina. This also marks the 14th consecutive year an Emory player has been crowned the singles champion ITA Fall South Regional.

"It was an unbelievable match played at a very high level," said Head Coach Amy Bryant. "Both players brought out the other's best. They will both improve from here! It was great for our team."

Cosme defeated Michelle Satterfield in the semifinals 6-2, 6-2 to reach the final while Harding knocked off Madison Gordon 6-4, 6-3.

After falling to her teammate in the singles final earlier in the day, Harding bounced back in the main doubles final with partner Katarina Su. The duo captured the doubles crown, defeating Clementina Davila and Lindsay Liles from Sewanee by a score of 8-2 to also earn ITA All-America honors. The twosome, like Cosme, will now compete in the National Small Colleges Tournament later in the month. This is Su's second straight year winning the doubles draw after she and Anna Fuhr won the tournament last fall.
