Women's Tennis Trio Selected to NCAA Individual Field

The Emory University women's tennis program saw three members selected to the individual competition of the 2016 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships as announced by the NCAA on Wednesday afternoon. Junior Michelle Satterfield and sophomore Bridget Harding were named to the singles draw and Harding and junior Katarina Su earned a bid for the doubles competition.

Satterfield will be making her second consecutive appearance in the singles draw after reaching the semifinals last season. The Paradise Valley, AZ native, currently ranked seventh in the ITA Atlantic South regional rankings, is 19-6 in singles matches this season and is 63-21 for her career.

Harding, who will be making her first NCAA Individual Championship appearance, reached the title match of the ITA South Fall Regional Tournament and recently posted her second straight 20-win season in singles play (21-9, now 48-13 in her career). In the latest ITA Atlantic South regional rankings, she moved up to the third spot.

Harding and Su, ranked sixth in the region, have posted a 19-7 record in doubles this season, including an 11-1 mark in their last 12 matches, and are 29-9 together over the past two seasons. Earlier this year, the duo earned All-America status after winning the ITA Fall South Regional Tournament and advancing to the National Small College championship match.

The draws for the individual championships consist of 32 singles players and 16 doubles pairings.  Individual competition will be held from May 26th – 28th at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Emory, the top-ranked team in Division III and 23-5 overall this year, will begin team play at the NCAA Championships in Lexington, VA on Saturday morning at 10:00 am ET against the winner of the first round match between Methodist and John Carroll.
