Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico & Bridget Harding Sweep ITA Regional Singles and Doubles Titles

The Emory University Women's Tennis team wrapped up the ITA South Regional Championships Sunday afternoon with a sweep of the singles and doubles titles as freshman Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico captured the singles crown and later, teamed with senior Bridget Harding to win the doubles final.

Gonzalez-Rico defeated Harding in the singles championship 6-4, 6-1 to become the latest Eagle to win the ITA South Regional. Gonzalez-Rico becomes the 16th consecutive Eagle and fifth freshman overall to win the singles title at the ITA South Regional Championship and now advances to the ITA Oracle Cup which will be held from October 11-15th in Rome, Georgia.

Later in the doubles final, Gonzalez-Rico and Harding became the 11th consecutive Emory doubles team to win the ITA South Regional Championship, beating Sewanee's Davila and Owen handily 6-0, 6-1 in the championship match. The duo will represent the Eagles next month at the ITA Oracle Cup. With the win, Harding recorded her third straight ITA Regional Doubles championship, becoming the fourth Eagle in program history to win three regional doubles titles in a career, joining Lorne McManigle, Zahra Dawson and Katarina Su.

The Eagles return to action in two weeks with the Mercer Gridiron Classic from October 6-8th, held in Macon, GA.

Bridget Harding moved into a tie for fifth place all-time on the Emory singles wins list with Michelle Satterfield with 87 career victories.
