Six Named to UAA Women's Tennis All-Tournament Team; Gonzalez-Rico Tabbed Tournament MVP

After winning the team's sixth consecutive University Athletic Association championship and 29th overall this past weekend, the Emory University Women's Tennis team placed six Eagles on the UAA All-Tournament team as announced by the conference office Thursday morning.

Leading the six players on the All-Tournament team was freshman Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico, who was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. Gonzalez-Rico went 3-0 at first singles and 3-0 at first doubles over the three matches to lead the Eagles to the conference title. Gonzalez-Rico also garnered a spot on the UAA All-Tournament First Team for both singles and doubles.

Junior Daniela Lopez and freshman Defne Olcay joined Gonzalez-Rico on the All-Tournament team for singles play. Both players were a perfect 3-0 in their matches over the course of the tournament and notched straight set wins against Chicago in the championship match.

Emory claimed two of the three doubles spots on the All-Tournament team as well with Gonzalez-Rico and senior Bridget Harding, the 2017 UAA All-Tournament MVP, earning the No.-1 doubles spot and senior Anna Fuhr and freshman Stephanie Taylor being named to the No.-2 Doubles position. Gonzalez-Rico and Harding improved to 17-0 in the spring and 29-4 overall with three wins at the tournament while Fuhr and Taylor were victors in all three matches to move to 13-7 on the season.
