Emory Women's Tennis Travels to Sewanee for Opening Rounds of NCAA Tournament

The top-ranked Emory University Women's Tennis team was one of 49 programs selected to the NCAA Division III tournament as announced on NCAA.com on Monday afternoon. Emory, which has advanced to five straight championship matches including national titles in 2014 and 2016, will be looking to make it back to the championship match when the 2018 tournament gets underway this weekend.

Emory, making its 34th-consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament, received one of the 40 automatic qualifiers after claiming its sixth straight and 29th overall University Athletic Association championship in April. The Eagles enter the field with a 13-4 overall record including a 11-0 mark against Division III opponents.

Head Coach Amy Bryant Previews the Opening Rounds

The Eagles are headed to Sewanee, Tennessee for the opening rounds with Sewanee serving as the host school. Emory, which received a first-round bye, will face the winner of Friday's first round match between Hanover (15-5) and Webster (12-5) on Saturday. On the other side of the draw, 13th-ranked Washington University (13-7) will face off against 12th-ranked and host Sewanee (21-4).

The two Saturday winners will square off on Sunday, May 13th for a bid to the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals. The 2017 NCAA Division III Quarterfinals are slated to begin on May 21st in Claremont, CA.
