The Emory University women's tennis team lost its final match of the regular season to Georgia Gwinnett College on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon in Atlanta.
The defeat was the first for the Eagles at home this spring as Emory moves to 6-1 at the WoodPEC and 9-5 overall. For the Grizzlies, they win their 12th straight match and now stand 16-1 on the year.
Freshman Emily Kantrovitz earned the Eagles' lone point in the match with her three-set win at the No. 2 singles spot, defeating her counterpart 6-1, 2-6, 6-1.
Despite the 8-1 margin, the Eagles fought tough against the NAIA powerhouse, forcing three additional singles matches to a decisive third set on courts one, five and six and saw the top doubles match play out to an 8-6 decision.
The Eagles will now shift gears and turn their attention to the UAA Championships which get underway on April 20 in Altamonte Springs, FL.
