Women’s Tennis Finishes Second Day of Elon Invitational

The Emory University women's tennis team finished the second day of the Elon Fall Invitational on Sunday afternoon after play was suspended on Saturday due to inclement weather.

The afternoon was highlighted by wins from sophomores Iris Berman and Alyssa Margolin and freshman Yanire Marte in singles and the doubles tandem of Ana Cristina Perez and Emily Kantrovitz and duo Berman and Izzy Antanavicius. Margolin and junior Eliza McPherron also won their match in their respective bracket.

In the Powell draw, Berman finished third in the bracket after defeating Lena Karlovcan of Campbell with a 6-4, 5-7, 14-12 decision. After winning in the Oak bracket on Friday, Margolin won her match over North Carolina A&T's Hana El Sherif with a straight set 6-3, 6-4 victory. Marte competed against Juliana Craft of UNCG for seventh place in the Gold draw winning her second career match with a 6-4, 6-2 line.

In doubles, Kantrovitz and Perez competed in the Maroon draw winning their match against NCCU with a 7-6 decision. Antanavicius and Berman defeated ECU in the Gold bracket with a 6-3 victory while teammates McPherron and Margolin finished third in the Powell draw after defeating UNCG 7-5.

The Eagles will compete in the ITA South Regionals beginning on Friday, September 29 in Sewanee, Tennessee.
