Women’s Tennis Advance Four to ITA Regional Semifinals, Kantrovitz/Perez Reach Doubles Finals

The Emory University women's tennis team continued their winning streak on Saturday afternoon advancing four Eagles to the semifinals in the singles draw and one doubles team to the finals. The singles semifinals will only consist of Emory athletes this year with a spot in the finals on the line.

Sophomores Emily Kantrovitz and Alyssa Margolin make their first career appearance in the semifinals after winning their matches on Saturday. Senior Ana Cristina Perez made an appearance in the semifinals last season and fellow senior Ilayda Baykan makes her first career appearance as well.

Kantrovitz started the day with a 6-0, 6-4 victory followed by a 6-4, 6-2 decision over two Sewanee athletes to take a spot in the semifinals. Margolin faced freshman teammate Yanire Marte on Saturday morning taking that match 6-3, 6-1. She later faced Sewanee and advanced to the semifinals with a 6-1, 6-2 win.

Baykan continued her hot streak with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Sewanee in the morning before defeating fellow Eagle Eliza McPherron in the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 7-5 decision. Perez earned her spot in the semifinals with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Sewanee before facing sophomore Iris Berman in the quarterfinals and taking the match 7-5, 6-3.

Kantrovitz and Perez started bright and early on Saturday morning winning their quarterfinals match against Congeni and Wilson of Sewanee 8-3. In their semifinals match, the duo faced Sewanee's Livingston and Nowak taking that match 6-0, 6-2 to advance to the finals.

The Eagles will finish the ITA South Regional tournament on Sunday, October 1 with the semifinals and finals in the singles draw and the finals in the doubles draw.
