Women’s Tennis Opens Spring Season with 9-0 Win over SCAD Atlanta

The Emory University women's tennis program opened the spring season with a bang defeating SCAD Atlanta 9-0 on Friday afternoon.

The No. 6 ranked Eagles start the season 1-0 and look to build off of their strong fall season.

Senior Ana Cristina Perez and sophomore Emily Kantrovitz opened the day with an 8-3 decision on court one. Junior Eliza McPherron and sophomore Iris Berman followed on court two with an 8-1 victory while the duo of sophomore Izzy Antanavicius and freshman Yanire Marte rounded out the day on court three taking the win 8-5.

Emory dominated the singles competition taking all matches with straight set decisions. Kantrovitz started singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win on court one followed by a 6-3, 6-0 victory on court two from Perez. Senior Ilayda Baykan opened her spring season taking her match with a 6-3, 6-4 decision on three while sophomore Alessia Martinez also opened her spring season with a win on court six (6-3, 6-2).

Berman continued the singles competition with a 6-1, 6-0 win on court four while Marte got a strong start as an Eagles going 6-0,6-0 on court five.

The Eagles will return to the courts on Friday, February 23 at 2:00 PM to face Georgia Gwinnett.
