Women’s Tennis Drops Road Match to Georgia Gwinnett College, 6-1

The Emory University women's tennis team lost on the road to fellow Atlanta foe Georgia Gwinnett College 6-1 on Friday afternoon in Gwinnett, Georgia.

The Eagles sit 1-1 in the spring after sweeping their opening match last week against the SCAD Atlanta Bees.

The NAIA powerhouse GGC took the doubles point with junior Eliza McPherron and sophomore Iris Berman winning the lone match for the Eagles in doubles with a 6-3 decision on court two.

The Grizzlies took the three of the top five singles matches with straight set decisions. Perez forced a third set at the No. 2 position, before falling 5-7, 6-4, 11-9 and freshman Yanire Marte went to a third on court five before dropping the matchup by a score of 6-3, 1-6, 14-12. McPherron took the lone singles point for Emory with her opponent retiring in the first set on court six.

The Eagles will return to the court on Saturday, February 24 to face the Sewanee Tigers at 3:00 PM.
