The Emory University women's tennis program came out on top against the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays on Friday afternoon in a rematch of the ITA Indoor opening round.

The Eagles improve to 7-4 with the win over the No. 8 ranked Blue Jays and are 4-2 against top-10 opponents this spring season. Sophomore Emily Kantrovitz has been on fire this spring for the Eagles winning nine of her last 10 matches with eight of them coming against ranked opponents. Senior Ilayda Baykan has also gone on a winning streak winning three of her last four singles matches.

Sophomore Izzy Antanavicius and freshman Yanire Marte got out to a quick start in doubles competition taking their match on court three with an 8-1 decision to give the Eagles a fast 1-0 lead. The Blue Jays took their doubles match on court one to tie the match but sophomore Iris Berman and junior Eliza McPherron answered with an 8-4 victory on court two helping the Eagles to a 2-1 lead heading into singles.

Kantrovitz got things started in singles on court one with a 6-4, 6-1 straight set win for her ninth singles win this season followed by another straight set win from Antanavicius on court four (6-4, 7-5) to give Emory a 4-1 advantage needing just one more win to clinch the victory.

Senior Ana Cristina Perez decided she was that one more win taking her match on court two with a 6-2, 7-6 decision winning the tiebreaker 7-1. Baykan finished close behind and after dropping her first set 1-6 came back with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 decision to win her match garnering Emory's sixth point of the match. Marte finished the day for the Eagles winning her match with a straight-set 6-4, 6-3 victory on court six.
