Athletes of the Week

(March 17) Katie Anding recorded two first place finishes to highlight competition for the Eagles at the Emory Mini Meet. Anding won the pole vault at 11-00.00, while also taking first in the long jump at 17-00.00. She also took second in the 100 meter hurdles at 16.12.


 

(March 10) Junior Amy DiBianca continued her improvement in the 5000 meter run with her top time of the season this past weekend at the Duke Invitational.  She finished the event with a time of 17:51.57, bettering her previous top time in the event of 18:02.71. 


 

(April 3) Junior Katie Anding turned in a solid performance this past weekend at the Emory Track Classic, winning the pole vault with an NCAA provisional qualifier of 11' 5 3/4". She also took third in the hurdles with a 16.30 and 7th in the long jump at 16'2".


 

(March 27) Track - Amy DiBianca competed in the Emory Invitational, Saturday, March 25, winning the women's 5000 meter run.  DiBianca crossed the finish line in a time of 18.02.71, 34 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

(March 27) Field - Alex Van Norstrand claimed three top 10 finishes this past weekend at the Emory Invitational.  Van Norstrand took second in the shot put with a finals throw of 37-05.75.  She took fifth in the discus at 110-01.00, while finishing sixth in the hammer throw with a finals distance of 113-00.00.


 

(March 6) Jane Ukandu broke two UAA records this past weekend at the UAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Chicago, Ill.  She took first place in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.22, which breaks the old UAA mark of 7.31.  Her time also is a NCAA provisional qualifier.  She also won the 200 meter dash in a time of 25.59, breaking the old UAA record of 26.03.


 

(Feb. 27) Tracy Whittaker turned in a solid meet at the Sewanee Indoor Invitational with two personal bests for the season. In the pole vault she turned in a 10-06.00, which betters her previous mark of 10-02.00. Her height of 10-06.00 was also good enough for first place in the event. She also competed in the triple jump, finishing second at 34-04.50.


 

(Feb. 13) The women's distance medley relay team finished 10th Saturday at the Boston University Valentine's Day Meet with a time of 12:12.66.  The team is made of Lauren Shores (1200), Janina Kreider (400), Julia Morton (800) and Amy DiBianca (1600) and currently ranked third in the nation.


 

(Feb. 6) Alex Van Norstrand placed third at the Tiger Invitational, hosted by Sewanee, University of the South. Van Norstrand recorded the longest throw in the preliminary competition before finishing third in the finals. She recorded her longest throw at 35 feet 1/2 inch.


 

(Jan. 30) Amy DiBianca turned in an impressive double at the Tennessee State University Invitational, winning the open mile in 5:18, before coming back to anchor the women's distance medlay relay.  Competing in her first mile since her freshman year in 2004, DiBianca finished 2.59 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.  She then ran another 1600 meters in the DMR, helping the relay to a second place finish in their heat.


 

(Jan. 23) Lauren Shores placed second in the unseeded section of the women's 3000 meter race at the Niswonger Invitational hosted by East Tennessee State University.  Her time of 10:27.40 is the fastest in the UAA so far this season.
