Intense
A word to describe me away from the athletic
venue: Free-Spirited.
My most memorable athletic moment was: I just
finished sprinting my hardest in the finals of the NCAA
Championships and I'm nervous because I can't tell how I finished
as a result of being all the way at the lane farthest to the
right. I thought I finished last and didn't realize I had
beat two girls on the opposite side. So, I'm sitting on the
field feeling pretty low and all of a sudden I hear Coach Goss yell
"Good job Jane!" I look up and I see people from Emory trying
to hold up there fingers to show me how I placed and I don't have
my contacts in. Then my teammate, Katie Anding, yells "Seven," and
relief just flooded through my whole body.
My most memorable Emory athletic moment: The
Clemson Meet my freshman year when the 4x400 relay I was on
qualified for Nationals and shattered the school record.
What I like most about Emory: The beautiful campus
and all the amazing people I know here.
I would like to switch places for the day with:
Someone studying abroad in Paris.
My favorite place on the Emory campus: The
Quad
Favorite pro athlete: Lance Armstrong
The sports teams I followed when I was younger:
When I was younger I only cared about sports during the Olympics,
and the one team I followed was the U.S. Women's Gymnastics
Team.
My favorite class at Emory and why: Intro to
Sociology. Sociology is such an amazing field of study and I
love analyzing our society and the way it impacts almost every
aspect of how we think.
The people who have helped me most at Emory are and
why: The fabulous women that I met through my sorority for
being there for me, and Coach James Goss for helping me see my
potential and succeed on the track. I don't think I would
have attained all I have as an athlete at Emory without
him.
Any pre-meet/competition rituals: Icing my
knees the night before a race.
The sport I would be playing if I wasn't running/on the
track and field team: Ultimate Frisbee.
If I could have dinner with only three people in history,
they would be: John Lennon, Martin Luther King, Oprah.
The best advice I have ever been given and who gave it to
