2008 Women's Outdoor Track & Field Season

The Emory University Women's Outdoor Track and Field team utilized a mix of strong returning veteran athletes and talented young runners to put together another successful campaign during the 2008 season.

The Eagles recorded their 18th top-three finish at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships in the 21 years of competition, as Emory scored 116.50 points during the meet to finish third overall.  Three Emory athletes came away with Individual UAA Championships, as junior Jordan Beall won the long jump, senior Tracy Whittaker won the pole vault, and junior Rebecca Willett finished first in the 800-meter run.  All together, 12 Emory athletes came away from the UAA Championships with 17 all-UAA certificates.

Emory recorded third-place finishes in both of its home meets during the season, the Emory Invitational and the Emory Asics Classic.  In the squad's only other meet with team scoring, the Mountain Laurel Relays in Sewanee, TN, the Eagles finished second out of five teams.

Emory also received a school-record setting performance from Natalie Waryck during the season, as the junior ran a time of 37:59.28 in the 10,000-meter run at the UAA Championships.  Beall's long jump of 5.59 meters was the second-best distance in school history in the event.
