Emory University junior Theresa
Ford earned all-America honors with a fourth-place
finish in the high jump during the opening day of the NCAA Division
III Track and Field Championships on Friday.
Ford cleared a height of 1.65 meters, the second-best mark of her
career, and the third-best mark in school history. She
becomes the ninth all-American in the history of the Emory women's
indoor track and field program, and the first to earn an
all-America certificate in the high jump. The junior scored
five points for the Emory women, who are in a tie for
17th-place after a day of competition at the meet.
Ford finished behind eventual winner Elizabeth Evans of Rose-Hulman
and Shleby Demos of Wisconsin-Whitewater, who each cleared the bar
at 1.79 meters. Erin Hollinger of Case Western Reserve also
cleared a height of 1.65 meters, but in one less jump than Ford to
take third place.
Also in action on the first day was senior Jasmine
McCullough, who finished 14th in the
preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.19
seconds.
The Eagles will return to action tomorrow at the NCAA Championships
in Grinnell, Iowa. Senior Ian Francis will
compete in the men's triple jump at 10:00 AM CT, while senior
Lauren
Attiah will compete in the women's triple jump at 1:00
PM CT.
