The Emory University women's track and field team completed another successful campaign during the 2014-15 indoor season.
The Eagles ended the campaign ranked second in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South/ Southeast Regional Rankings. Members of the squad combined to record 22 marks that ranked among the top-10 in the program's history in 2014-15.
Emory finished third at the 2015 University Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships, including individual titles from seniors Electra Korn in the 400-meter dash and Katie Wilson in the high jump. Korn added a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash and a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles to total three all-UAA honors. Other second-place finishes at the meet came from senior Elaina Kim in the pole vault and freshman Caitlin Cheeseboro in the 60-meter hurdles, while freshman Zoe Fowler in the weight throw, junior Alexandra Aiello in the 60-meter dash, and the Eagles' 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Erica Goldman, sophomore Alexa Young, junior Julie Williamson and senior Hannah Parra all finished third in their respective events.
In other scored meets during the season, Emory placed first out of 22 teams at the Birmingham Ice Breaker to open the season in December, second out of 19 teams at the Emory Crossplex Invitational in January, and first out of 11 teams at the Tiger Indoor Invitational in February.
Korn finished the season as the Eagles' top performer in five different events – the 55-meter dash (7.48 seconds), the 60-meter dash (7.96 seconds), the 200-meter dash (25.18 seconds), the 400-meter dash (56.57 seconds) and the 55-meter hurdles (8.56 seconds). In addition, her season-best times in the 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash (both recorded at the Emory Crossplex Invitational) ranked fourth and 17th in Division III during the regular season, respectively, but she was unable to compete at the 2015 NCAA Division III Championships due to injury. Korn was selected as the National Division III Athlete of the Week by the USTFCCCA on January 27th, following her performance at the Emory Crossplex Invitational.
Other Eagles who finished the 2014-15 indoor season with times ranked among the top-50 in Division III included both Williamson (31st, 2:15.76) and senior Stephanie Crane (46th, 2:17.11) in the 800-meter run, Cheeseboro in the 60-meter hurdles (35th, 9.11 seconds), and Wilson in the high jump (1.63 meters). Emory's 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Julie Leventhal, Goldman, Williamson and Korn recorded a time of 3:56.07 at the Hilton Garden Innvitational, the 18th-fastest in Division III during the campaign.
In addition to their achievements on the track during the season, both Korn and Williamson were named to the Capital One / CoSIDA Academic All-District Team in 2014-15. It marked the second-straight year that Korn has received the honor, and the first career Academic All-District honor for Williamson.
