Pietsch Qualifies for 400m Dash Finals with Personal-Best Time on Day Two of NCAA Championships

Emory University sophomore Daniel Pietsch qualified for the 400m Dash final on day two of the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA.

Pietsch posted a personal-best time of 47.15 to place second in heat two of the preliminaries. His time was the third fastest of all preliminary runners and qualified for the tomorrow's final by virtue of his time being one of the next five fastest times after the three heat winners. His mark of 47.15 also ranks as the fourth fastest time in school history.

Also competing for the Eagles on Friday was a trio of members of the women's team. In the 400m Dash, freshman Ariana Newhouse placed 21st in the event with a time of 56.84 and sophomore Erica Goldman finished 22nd with a mark of 57.15. In the 800m Run, senior Julie Williamson was 13th in the event, clocking in with a time of 2:11.94.
