Mees, Women's 4x400m Advance to Finals on Day One of NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships

Senior Lukas Mees and the women’s 4x400m Relay of freshman Dilys Osei, sophomore Julia Leventhal, freshman Ariana Newhouse and sophomore Erica Goldman all qualified for the finals in their respective events on Day One of the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA.

Mees posted a time of 9:12.63 to finish third in heat one of the 3000m Steeplechase and his time ended up being the third fastest in the preliminaries. By virtue of placing in the top five in his heat, Mees qualified for Saturday’s final and will be one of 14 runners competing for the national championship in the event. The finals of the 3000m Steeplechase is scheduled to start at 12:30 PM CT on Saturday.

The 4x400m Relay closed out the day finishing fourth in heat two of the event with a time of 3:47.10, the second fastest mark in school history. The foursome qualified for the finals by having the third fastest time after the top two finishers in each heat and the seventh fastest mark in preliminaries. The finals of the 4x400m Relay is scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM CT on Saturday.
