Track & Field Heads to Berry for Field Day Invitational

The Emory University track & field programs are back in action this weekend competing at the Berry Field Day Invitational in Rome, GA.

The meet will be a one day affair on Saturday beginning at 9:00 AM with the men’s shot put and the women’s hammer throw and will continue until the women’s and men’s 4x400 Relay at 5:55 PM and 6:05 PM. For the full schedule of events, click here: http://berryvikings.com/sports/wtrack/2015-16/files/Berry_Field_Day_Invitational_Schedule_updated_April_6_FINAL.pdf.

Fans unable to make the trip to Berry can still follow the action here with live updating results: http://www.ptgrouponline.com/Live/2016/Berry/Berry2/.

Competing along with the Eagles at the meet will be Berry, Agnes Scott, Sewanee, Piedmont, Oglethrope, Shorter, Covenant, Bryan, Reinhardt, University of West Georgia, Lee University, Clark Atlanta, North Georgia, Augusta, Columbus State and Clayton State.

Emory is coming off a solid performance at the VertKlasse Meeting against mostly Division I competition with several Eagles posting season-best team marks in seven different events. Seniors Lukas Mees and Spencer Koh swept the UAA Men’s Track & Field weekly awards as Mees ran the third fastest 3000m Steeplechase time (9:18.37) in school history and the second fastest time ran recorded nationally this season. Meanwhile, Koh scored a season-best mark in the javelin throw with a distance of 49.97m.

The Eagles enter the weekend ranked among the top schools regionally in the first USTFCCCA regional rankings of the outdoor season released earlier this week. The Emory women were ranked first by a commanding margin in the first poll while the men are in the third position, trailing only Christopher-Newport and Birmingham Southern. Full regional rankings can be found here: http://www.ustfccca.org/infozone/regional-polls-rankings-single-week.php?year=2016&venue=2&divno=37&week=1.

Full results and a recap of Emory’s performance at the meet will be posted to emoryathletics.com at the conclusion of the meet.
