Osei-Led Eagles win Mount Laurel Invitational; Men Finish Third

The Emory University track & field teams competed in Sewanee’s Mount Laurel Invitational on Friday afternoon with the women’s team winning another meet, their fourth straight, scoring 221 points meanwhile the men’s team came in third out of 11 schools with 112.5 points.

Freshman Dilys Osei had a great meet to lead the Eagles as she took first in both the 200m Dash and 100m Hurdles with new season-best team times in each event. In the 200m Dash, she posted a time of 25.32 and in the 100m Hurdles, she ran a time of 15.04. Osei was also part of the 4x100 relay team along with freshman Dani Bland, sophomore Julia Leventhal and senior Alexandra Aiello that finished with a new season-best time of 47.83 in a first place effort.

Emory added season-best marks in two field events as well on Friday as sophomore Valerie Linck scored a first place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.60m and freshman Kaleena Jesson came in second in the pole vault with a height of 3.05m.

Additionally, the Eagles added five other first place showings at the meet: Bland in the 100m Dash (12.44), sophomore Michelle Kagei in the 3000m Run (11:00.23), freshman Hayley Moyer in the 400m Hurdles (1:08.82) and junior Mia Eisenhandler in the 3000m Steeplechase (12:01.03).

On the men’s side, the Eagles were paced with five event victories. Senior Josh Traynelis took first in the 800m Run at 1:58.00, junior Michael McBane claimed the 1500m Run with a time of 4:05.20 and sophomore Shane Sullivan earned the top spot in the 3000m Run, crossing at 8:45.59. Sophomore Benjamin Rogin added a first place showing 110m Hurdles (15.57) and freshman Zachary Lembersky led all field performers, winning the discus throw with a distance of 41.61m.

Emory will now set its focus on next weekend’s UAA Outdoor Championships which will be held at Washington University in St. Louis on Saturday and Sunday.
