Track & Field to Compete in VertKlasse Meeting at High Point

The Emory University track & field programs are back in action this weekend as the Eagles travel to High Point University in High Point, N.C. for the VertKlasse Meeting on Friday and Saturday.

The VertKlasse Meeting a European-style meet that features a small amount of high-level competitors, creating a fast-moving, exciting competition. The name "VertKlasse" is based on the Weltklasse Zürich meet (pronounced VELT-class ZUR-ick, German for World Class Zurich), a famed international meet held annually in Switzerland. The name "Vert" was added in honor of two of HPU's greatest benefactors and alumni, Dick and Peg Vert, for whom Vert Stadium is named. Dick Vert was a member of the HPU cross country and track teams in the 1960s.

There will be live results for the entire meet that can be found here: http://www.flashresults.com/2016_Meets/Outdoor/04-01_VertKlasse/ and a free live video stream on Saturday from 1pm-6pm that can be found here: http://www.bigsouthsports.com/live/13906.

The Emory women are coming off back-to-back meet victories in the Emory Invitational and Emory Classic. Sophomore Erica Goldman was named the UAA Women’s Track Athlete of the Week after taking first in the 400m Dash and running the anchor leg on Emory’s first place 4x400 relay team. She is the second Eagle to earn the honor after freshman Dani Bland was named the UAA Athlete of the Week on March 21. The Eagles also placed first on the men’s side this past week lead by four individual event winners in sophomore Max Brown (1500m Run), junior Michael McBane (5000m Run), senior Spencer Koh (Pole Vault) and senior Jack Seigel (Discus) and two relay event wins in the 4x400 and 4x800.

Results will be posted following competition each day with a recap of Emory performances to come at the conclusion of action on Saturday.
