Wagner, DMR Reach Podium on Day One of UAA Indoor Championships

The Emory University Women's Track and Field enjoyed a successful first day of the 2019 UAA Indoor Championships, earning a pair of All-UAA finishes, setting two school records and qualifying for five event finals. The UAA Championships are being hosted by Brandeis University in Waltham, MA.

On the strength of two All-UAA finishes, the Eagles currently sit in fourth place with 33.50 team points and heads into Sunday trailing WashU (52), Chicago (50) and Case Western Reserve (37.50) in the team standings.

Senior Paris Wagner highlighted the Eagles performers on Saturday in the field events, reaching the podium in the weight throw. Wagner smashed the school record with her second place mark of 16.20m, passing the previous top program mark of 15.86 by Danielle LeSure set back at the 2002 UAA Championships.

Also medaling for the Eagles on Saturday was the Distance Medley Relay team of senior Kayla O'Shea, sophomores Angela Cao and Carrie McIntyre and freshman Belle Brown. The quartet recorded the 10th fastest time in program history as they finished third at 12:17.73.

Junior Isabel Saridakis joined Wagner as Eagles that set school records on day one of the meet, topping her previous record by .11m with a finals height of 3.63m. She finished tied for fourth in the event.

In the track events, Emory eight qualifiers for the five event finals that will be contested on Sunday. Senior Dilys Osei ran the fastest prelim time in the 200m Dash at 25.72, just .06 faster than classmate Dani Bland. Osei also qualified for the 60m Hurdles with her prelim time of 9.09 while Bland posted the top preliminary mark in the 60m Dash at 7.83.

Joining the senior duo in event finals on Sunday are freshman Hannah Lansberry in the 400m Dash (4th, 59.79), sophomores Rebekah Bondi (2nd, 7.98) and Michelle Rosenblum (8th, 8.17) in the 60m Dash and Cao in the 800m Run (8th, 2:18.03).

Day two of the UAA Indoor Championships gets underway at 10:00 AM with the women's shot put and high jump as well as the men's triple jump. The meet concludes at 2:05pm with the women's 4x400m Relay followed by the men's race.
