The Emory University Track and Field teams kicked off the indoor season on Friday with the Birmingham-Southern Icebreaker held at the Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama. The Emory women scored 17 points at the meet to finish 10^th in the team standings while the men scored six points to finish 18^th.

On the women’s side, the Eagles impressed in the field events, scoring in three of the six events contested on the afternoon. Senior Paris Wagner notched the second longest throw in school history in the weight throw, finishing third in the event with a career-best 15.79m. Junior Greta Wilker took sixth in the shot put with a distance of 12.01m and in the triple jump, junior Ayriel Coleman led a trio of Eagles, placing sixth at 10.74m followed by sophomore Natalie Natole (7^th-10.30m) and senior Katie Chang (8^th-10.28m).

The 4x400m Relay added points towards Emory’s team total as the sophomore group of Michelle Rosenblum, Ayla Kazemi, Rachel Shanahan and Ana Sofia Beltran took eighth with a time of 4:24.42.

Other top finishers for the Emory included sophomore Rebekah Bondi in the long jump (9^th-5.16m), senior Ariana Newhouse in the 400m Dash (10^th-58.86), senior Dani Bland in both in the 200m Run (13^th-25.63) and 60m Dash (18^th-7.84), Shanahan in the 800m Run (18^th-2:34.74), senior Dilys Osei in the 60m Hurdles (16^th-9.31) and freshman Eileen Laverty in the 3000m Run (19^th-11:57.14).

For the men, the 4x400m Relay featuring junior Aria Mohseni, Alex Rand, sophomore Liam Fost and freshman Alberto Bitar III were the leading point scorers, taking sixth in the event with a time of 3:25.98. Freshmen Brett Henshey and Ben Kronman added points for the Eagles in the field events with Henshey placing seventh in the high jump at 1.90m and Kronman finishing eighth at 12.18m

Senior Zachary Lembersky in the weight throw at 12.81m and freshman Connor Kamp in the long jump at 5.98m each finished 13^th to lead the Eagles in other field events while freshman Matthew White, Lucas Werner and Jacob Solomon paced the Eagles in track events. White finished 10^th overall in the 800m Dash with a time of 2:02.14 while Werner was 11^th in the 60m Hurdles at 8.82 and in the 60m Dash, Solomon placed 21^st at 7.07.

Mohseni and Fost also topped Emory performers on the track with Fost taking 14^th in the 400m Dash and Mohseni finishing 22^nd in the 200m Dash with a mark of 22.91.

The Eagles will take a short hiatus for finals and holiday break before returning to competition on January 12^th with the UAB Vulcan Invitational.
