Women Finish First, Men Take Second at Sewanee Indoor Invitational

The Emory University Track and Field teams enjoyed a successful afternoon at the Sewanee Indoor Invitational as the women won the meet with a team score of 126 while the men finished second with 106 points, just three behind meet winner Birmingham-Southern.

The Eagles as collective unit won nine events at the meet: five on the women's side and four for the men.

For the women, winning events were senior Paris Wagner in the weight throw (15.59m), junior Isabel Saridakis in the pole vault (3.35m), senior Jordan Small in the high jump (1.55m), sophomore Rebekah Bondi in the 55m Hurdles (8.95) and sophomore Michelle Ly in the 800m Run (2:41.14).

On the men's side, all four event wins come on the track with junior Alex Rand taking the 400m Dash (53.15), sophomore Zion Kidd in the 200m Dash (23.95), freshman Matthew White winning the 800m Run (2:03.79) and sophomore Jonathan Rosenfeld earning the top spot in the Mile (4:33.86).

As an added bonus, the Eagles competed against Sewanee in a mixed 4x400m Relay at the conclusion of the meet with White, freshman Jason Berger and sophomores Ana Sofia Beltran and Ayla Kazemi posted a winning time of 4:08.13.

Emory will now prepare to head to Boston, MA for the UAA Indoor Championships on February 23rd and 24th.
