The Emory University Track and Field Programs will host the eighth-annual Emory Crossplex Showdown in Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday, January 19th.
Nearly 40 teams from over 20 different programs will make the trip to the Birmingham Crossplex for the competition. The meet will start off with men's weight throw at 10:30 a.m. EST. A short time later, the women's 5000m Run will get things going on the track at 10:40 a.m. EST. The men's 4x400m Relay is scheduled as the final event of the meet and that is slated for 6:40 p.m. EST.
The participating teams will be mostly made up of DII, DIII, and NAIA schools, including Alabama-Huntsville, Christian Brothers, Clayton State, Lee, Saint Leo, Berry, Birmingham-Southern, Mississippi University for Women, Oglethorpe, Piedmont, St. Norbert, Cumberland (Tenn.), Reinhardt, Talladega College, Vorhees, Dalton State, Life University and the University of West Georgia. DI Alcorn-State and the men's Elite Striders Track Club will also be on hand.
The 2019 edition of the Emory Crossplex Showdown saw the Eagles take second-place on the women's side. The men's team earned a fourth-place finish and were led by Jack Whetstone's stellar effort as he set a new meet record in the 5000m Run. Last year, Lee won the team meet title in the men's competition, while the women's team contest was captured by Troy.
