The Emory University Men's and Women's Track Programs head to Winston-Salem, NC to compete against 14 other teams in the JDL Flat is Fast indoor meet at the JDL Fast Track on Saturday (Jan. 25th). The meet will be a one-day affair, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with the women's 5000m Run and ending with the men's 4x400m Relay at 3:50 p.m.

The JDL Flat is Fast meet will become the smallest competition that the Eagles have attended this indoor season, with just one DI institution scheduled to appear – Davidson. Belmont Abbey, Claflin, Erksine, Limestone, Livingston, and Queens (N.C.) make up the DII programs that will participate. Birmingham-Southern, Neumann, and Piedmont are the DIII teams other than Emory that have registered for the event. The remaining four teams are NAIA squads, namely, Allen, SCAD-Atlanta, Vorhees, and WVU Tech.

According to the performance list, Emory enters the meet with top marks in 11 of 32 events. Junior Liam Fost leads the field in the 400m Run (47.19). Junior Tom Perretta owns the best time in the 800m Run (1:55.69). The women's 1 Mile Run is headlined by freshman Shana Fitzmaurice (5:18.72), junior Ana Morris (5:25.60), and freshman Lauren Ashen (5:36.39), while the men's 1 Mile Run top-five is set to be junior Jacob Hedgepeth (4:20.19), sophomore Liam McGuire (4:23.52), freshman Andrew Pahnke (4:25.87), sophomore Jon Marcus (4:26.35), and sophomore Anderson Shew (4:29.48). Additionally, Emory's 4x400 relay teams own the fastest finish in the field, as the women's A-team owns a time of 3:56.21, while the men's time is 3:18.24.

In the field events, seniors Nyla Lindo (11.27m) and Amy Hunter (11.15m) are poised as the top pair of women's triple jump participants. Junior Laura Sheckter comes into the event with a half-meter advantage over her closest contemporary in the women's shotput fresh off her record-breaking effort last week (13.51m), while her counterpart Wheeler Wilson, a freshman, carries a similar margin over his competitors (15.04m). Sheckter also has a claim to the best weight throw performance for the women (13.85m).
