Three All-America selections and a third-place conference finish highlighted another successful indoor campaign for the Emory University women's track and field team.
Senior Isabel Saridakis and juniors Laura Sheckter and Rebekah Bondi earned their way to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to represent the Eagles and compete for national glory. However, on the eve of competition, the NCAA Division III Championships meet was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the meet's cancellation, the USTFCCCA made the decision to award all national qualifiers with All-America certificates. Saridakis took home All-America honors in the pole vault while Sheckter and Bondi garnered acclaim in the shot put and 60m Dash, respectively. It was the first career indoor All-America honor for all three Eagles.
Two weeks prior, Sheckter and Bondi led Emory to its sixth straight third place showing at the University Athletic Association Championships in New York, capturing event titles in their respective individual events. In addition to Sheckter's and Bondi's UAA championships in the shot put and 60m Dash, the Eagles totaled seven individual All-UAA finishes and were third in the 4x400m Relay. Bondi added a bronze medal in the long jump to lead all Emory performers with two All-UAA efforts.
As a team, the Eagles scored 96.33 points as they finished behind Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Chicago in the conference standings.
Sheckter and first-year Head Coach Linh Nguyen headlined the Eagles on the regional front, collecting USTFCCCA South/Southeast Regional awards. Sheckter became the third women in program history to be named the regional field Athlete of the Year after rewriting the record book with her top school mark of 13.91m in the shot put. Nguyen oversaw three athletes tabbed to the NCAA Championships, a No.-1 regional ranking and 14 athletes chosen as USTFCCCA All-Region honorees in his first season in Atlanta.
The 14 Eagles picked as South/Southeast All-Region honorees continued the recent trend of regional dominance as Emory paced all South/Southeast schools with 18 selections. Bondi led all team members with three selections in the 60m Dash, Long Jump and 200m Dash while sophomore Hannah Lansberry and freshman Abigail Baisley each earned two All-Region certificates.
Emory also shined in the classroom with 20 student-athletes chosen to the UAA Winter All-Academic Team.
