Women's Track & Field Tops Hilltop Classic Behind Nine Event Wins

The Emory University women's track & field team won nine events Friday afternoon, leading the way to a team win at the Hilltop Classic hosted by Birmingham-Southern College. Emory topped 14 scoring schools at the meet, totaling a combined 185.5 team points.

On the track, the Eagles saw event wins by Annika Urban in the 1500m Run (4:41.72), Rebekah Bondi in the 100m Dash (12.37), Claire Evans in the 400m Hurdles (1:08.91) and in the 4x100m Relay by the group of Bondi, Michelle Rosenblum, Jessica Barbarosh and Sydney Mercurio (48.67).

For the field events, the team secured event wins from Laura Sheckter, Hope Jackson, Taylor Robinson and Isabel Saridakis. Sheckter winning another shot put event, this time with a mark of 12.55m and in the discus, Jackson crossed the 40-meter mark with her mark of 40.02. In the javelin, Robinson bested the field with her throw of 39.11m while in the pole vault, Saridakis came in with a height of 3.37m.

Other top finishers for Emory included: Bondi in the 200m Dash (2nd, 26.18), Evans in the 100m Hurdles (2nd, 16.10), Lauren Cunild in the 1500m Run (2nd, 4:47.42), Barbarosh in the 100m Dash (3rd, 12.66), Ana Morris in the 800m Run (3rd, 2:24.15), Lauren Musachia in the high jump (4th, 1.45m), Christina Dwier in the 5000m Run (4th, 20:23.45), Alex Devaux in the hammer throw (4th, 40.90m) and Mercurio in the 400m Dash (7th, 1:03.39).

Next up for the Eagles is the UAB Spring Invitational on Friday, April 2nd and Saturday, April 3rd.
