Track and Field Finishes Strong at Camel City Invitational

The Emory University track and field program posted another impressive day at the Camel City Invitational with both men and women earning new season divisional rankings.

Starting on the track for the women was freshman Hannah Riley running a 2:23.67 for a 15th place finish which places her 69th in Division III this season according to TFRRS. Following Riley was fellow freshman Payton Fleming crossing the finish line with a time of 2:23.84 for the 74th best time in the division. In the 1000m, senior Lily Taylor and junior Madison Tiaffay ran a 3:02.30 and 3:02.43 respectively for a second and third place finish. Their times are now ranked as the 8th and 9th best this season in Division III. Graduate student Brigid Hanley took a fifth place finish in the 3000m with a time of 9:48.40, the third best time in Division III this season. Senior Libby Ranocha competed in the 800m elite group finishing third (2:13.27) and ranking second in the division.

Competing in the lone field event for Emory on Saturday was sophomore Simon Stumbris who took home a 12th place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 13.36, the 70th best in Division III so far.

Freshman Andrew Burchett started the day for the Eagles crossing the line at 2:00.24 for a seventh place finish followed by a sixth place finish in the 3000m (8:21.90), the 19th best time in Division III this season. Senior Dawit Dean and junior Chris Belz both competed in the 800m elite group placing first and fifth respectively. Senior Spencer Watry ended the day for the Eagles with a fourth place finish in the 1 mile with a time of 4:12.97, ranking 11th in the division. 

The Eagles will be back on the track on Friday, February 2 to compete at the South Carolina Invitational in Columbia, South Carolina.
