The No. 3-ranked Emory volleyball closed out a successful opening
day at the UAA Championships by defeating host Case Western Reserve
University. The Eagles, who entered the Championships as the
No. 1 seed, topped the Spartans, 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-11), and
raised their overall record to 29-4. Emory started off the
championships earlier on Friday with a 3-0 verdict over
Rochester.
Junior Jessica McAlvany led a trio of Emory players who finished in
double figures in kills, racking up 15 terminations. Senior
Amelia McCall and sophomore Breanah Bourque each registered 10
kills with McCall chipping in 14 digs in the winning
effort. Freshman Molly Landers topped the squad with 18
digs and junior setter Natalie Schonefeld doled out 41 assists.
Emory returns to action at the UAA Championships on Saturday with a
noon match against No. 23-ranked Chicago.
