Senior outside hitter Amelia McCall was named
the MVP of the Doc Partin Classic after helping the Eagles to a 4-0
record that included a pair of victories over teams that were
ranked among the nation’s top 20. The 5-foot-10 McCall
played in all 13 of the team’s sets and topped the squad with
72 kills (5.54 kps) while registering a keen .395 attack percentage
(72-12—152), contributing 43 digs (3.31 dps) and picking up
nine total blocks (0.69 bps). She recorded double-figure kill
outings in all four contests and had a pair of double-doubles
(kills/digs) as she helped the No. 4 Eagles boost their record to
7-1 on the year. In a 3-1 verdict over No. 5-ranked Eastern
in the Partin Classic finale, she hammered out a career-high 23
kills and finished with a .400 hitting percentage (23-3—50)
while chipping in nine digs and three block assists. In a 3-0
triumph over No. 16 Trinity, McCall pounded out 19 terminations en
route to a .405 attack percentage (19-4—37) and totaled 12
digs.
