Jessica Holler Lands UAA Volleyball Honor

Senior Jessica Holler (Roswell, GA) has been named by the University Athletic Association as Co-Player of the Week following her performance at the Emory National Invitational.  It is the third time this season and ninth in her career that she has been selected for the honor. She shares the award with Aimee Kohler, Rochester

The 6-foot-1 Holler played in all 12 of the team's sets over four matches and paced the club
in hitting percentage (.352) while averaging 2.83 kills per set. In addition, she averaged a team-leading 1.50 blocks per set as Emory closed out the weekend with a 4-0 effort that boosted its season slate to 27-5.

On the first day of action at the Invitational, a 3-0 win over Randolph-Macon, Holler produced a match-high 10 terminations, a .562 attack percentage (10-1--16) and a season-best eight blocks (0-8).  In the following contest, Holler tied for the team lead with nine kills (.400 hitting pct.) and rang up six block assists in a 3-0 decision over Clarkson University.  On Saturday, she was part of a balanced offensive attack in wins over Washington and Lee and Berry, registering eight kills vs. W&L and seven against Berry.  She also doled out a total of five service aces in those wins.

So far this year, Holler paces the Eagles in kills (3.05 kps), hitting percentage (.381) and blocks (0.99 bps).

Emory returns to action this weekend (Nov. 4-5) when it competes in the UAA Championships on the campus of Washington University.  The Eagles, the No. 2 seed, will clash with New York University on Friday in a noon start.
