Emory Volleyball Topped By Chicago In UAA Round Robin I Finale

The No. 3-ranked Emory volleyball team saw a 13-match win streak come to an end on Sunday as the Eagles dropped their final match at the University Athletic Association Round Robin I.  No. 25 Chicago battled to a 3-1 (18-25, 25-17, 25-10, 25-21) decision, raising its overall record to 15-3 (3-0 UAA) while Emory slipped to 14-2 overall (2-1 UAA).  Case Western Reserve served as the host institution for the Round Robin I.

The Maroons finished the match hitting .185 (45-17—151) while holding the Eagles to a season low .045 (37-30—157).  Chicago became just the third team this season to hold an advantage over Emory in hitting percentage.  Emory totaled 80 digs to UC's 78 and both teams registered six total blocks.

Sophomore Morgan McKnight was the lone Eagle to post double-figure kills, chalking up 10 terminations, her 11th performance this season of double digits.  Sophomore Sara Carr was next up on the team's scoresheet with nine successful attack attempts while sophomore Leah Saunders finished with six. Sophomore Elyse Thompson led all players with 29 digs, her fifth match with 20 or more this season, while contributing three of the team's eight service aces.  Freshman Maggie Rimmel led the club with four (0-4) total blocks.

Emory returns to action on Thursday (Oct. 5) when travels to nearby Agnes Scott College to take on Oglethorpe University at 6:00 p.m., followed by a bout against the host Scotties at 8:00 p.m.
