Emory University volleyball junior Alana Dawson was named to the Academic All-America Third Team as announced by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday afternoon.

Dawson's selections makes her the ninth player in program history to earn the distinction and she becomes the 215th in the history of the Emory Athletics department.

Earlier this season, Dawson earned her way to a spot on the Region VI All-Region first team before earning recognition on the AVCA All-American third team.

She finished second on the team with 253 kills and led the team with 73 kills against UAA opponents. Dawson also placed second on the team with a .327 hitting percentage and finished second in the conference behind teammate Cail. She had a career-high 20 kills against then-ranked No. 12 WashU and totaled 38 kills during the NCAA tournament, including 19 against Covenant, to earn Mount Berry Regional All-Tournament honors.

The League City, Texas native owns a 4.00 GPA and is working towards a Quantitative Sciences degree. Out of the 83 selections from all divisions, Dawson is one of just 29 student-athletes to boast a perfect 4.00 GPA and is one of the six from Division III.

In addition to Dawson, senior Carly Wallace and juniors Lily Martin and Deborah Hong were named to the CSC Academic All-District Team earlier this fall. Select players were then chosen to be placed on the Academic All-America ballot and were voted on by College Sport Communicators and Sports Information Directors across all Division III institutions.

The Eagles finished the season with a 26-3 overall record and advanced to the regional final of the NCAA Tournament continuing their 27-year postseason streak.
