2005 Athletes Of The Week

(Nov. 14) - Junior Amy DiBianca led the 16th-ranked Emory women's cross country team to the South Region title.  DiBianca finished second in the race after crossing the finish line in a time of 22:18.9.  This marks the second meet DiBianca has led the way for the Emory contingent.  The team now advances to the NCAA finals for the 16th time and first since 2003.


(Oct. 31) - Junior Amy DiBianca led the Eagles to a second place finish at the UAA Championships with a fifth-place finish.  With the finish, DiBianca earned All-UAA honors for the third consecutive year and first team honors for the second time.  Her time of 22:42.7 is a career-best and the fourth-fastest time in school history for a 6,000-meter race.  This is the first race this season she has been the top finisher for Emory.


(Oct. 17) - Junior Lauren Shores continued to lead the women's team, placing seventh overall and third among non-Division I competitors, in a time of 22:38. Running her first 6,000 meter course of the season, Shores recorded one of the top-10 fastest 6k times in the history of the program.


(Oct. 10) - Junior Lauren Shores continued her solid season by leading the 25th-ranked women's cross country team at the Auburn Invitational.  Shores finished the meet in 29th after crossing the finish line with a time of 17:57.72.  Her time marked a season best, as well as her career best.  Earlier this year she recorded her career best of 18:40 at the Great American Cross Country Race.


(Oct. 3) - Junior Katie Parafinczuk lead the way for the Emory women's cross country team at the Georgia Collegiate in Macon, Ga. Parafinczuk crossed the finish line in a time of 19:59 for 39th place. This marked her best time and finish of the season after running in two events.


(Sept. 26) -  Sophomore Lauren Shores continues to lead the Emory women's cross country team. This past weekend at the Great American Cross Country Race in Cary, N.C., she finished 14th with a time of 18:39.60. The time of 18:39.60 marks a personal best for Shores while competing for the Eagles. For the year she has two top 10 finishes, while leading her team in all three events.


(Sept. 19) - Emory sophomore Lauren Shores finished fourth at the Vanderbilt Commodore Classic to lead the women's cross country team. Shores finished the event in a time of 18:50.84 for her second top 10 finish of the season in as many events. Her time is an improvement from the year's first event at Sewanee where she finished at 19:05.07. Shores, a second-team All-UAA performer from a year ago received athlete of the week honors during week one of 2005.


(Sept. 5) - Lauren Shores led the Emory women's cross country team to their 12th title at the Sewanee Invitational by finishing third. Shores, a sophomore, finished with a time of 19:05.07. Her time and finish at Sewanee mark career bests for the second-team all-UAA performer from 2004. Last season at this same event she finished eighth after crossing the finish line in a time of 19:37.00.
